Physical Therapy May Help Kids’ Back Pain

10.07.11  |   Children's Health, Health & Fitness, Pain Management  |  admin

Back pain, something that is generally thought to afflict adults and senior citizens, is being seen in younger people too, some as young as 10-years-old, report news sources.

Correcting back pain-causing habits and taking preventative measures, like focusing on stabilization rather than strength, will help kids maintain a healthy back as they move into adulthood. A physical therapist may be able to help both with corrective and preventative measures.

First, the physical therapist will conduct an exam to determine the best course of action. Following the exam, exercises may be prescribed, some of which are surprisingly familiar. Planks, in which a person holds a position similar to the start of a push up, and squats will help develop the stability needed to maintain a healthy posture and back.

Do you or a loved one suffer from back pain and the pain keeps on persisting? It may be time to call a Los Angeles pain doctor like the ones found at the Neurological Associates of West Los Angeles right away. Our pain management doctor may be able to help you manage your back pain and put you on the road to recovery fast. Even if we are not able to assist you, we may be able to point you in the right direction.
